High latitude sailing, particularly between South America, Antarctica and the island of South Georgia and The Falkland Islands provides challenges for even the most experienced yachts’ captain. A prolonged period in ice and near ice brings its own challenges requiring a custom yacht built for this purpose. 2016 AIP provided design consultancy services for the Owen Clarke designed polar explorer yacht Qilak, launched in September 2018, completed its first polar season in the arctic summer 2019.

2019 AIP are in the process of providing design support to arksen for the new range of expedition motor yachts. the first vessel in the series to stat building shortly in the uk will be 26 metres loa.
